I’ve seen that post going around talking about a study that compared people eating familiar or unfamiliar meals, with the result that they digested the former better, and drawing the conclusion that experiencing pleasure while eating is important for your health. I think many people have pointed out that you can’t exactly draw too many strong conclusions from one study, but I also wonder if, given the results of the study would be found valid across many tests, it doesn’t mostly come down to people chewing their food and generally eating more slowly–things that improve your digestion–when it’s food they enjoy. I do think that the general point that having pleasure and enjoyment in your life is key to health is a good one though.
